A Slightly Drunken Afternoon in Fushimi, Kyoto
If you talk about Japanese sake, I believe you will think of Japanese sake brands in the Northeast region of Japan, and wineries with many years of history like Kyoto will always be forgotten by everyone, just like there will be no wineries in the Kansai region .
However, in fact, there are still some Japanese sake brands still operating in Kyoto, one of which is Gekkeikan, which has a history of many years.
Different from other Japanese sake brands, Gekekikan has set up a museum related to Japanese sake. If you are interested in Japanese sake, you must not miss it when you come to Kyoto for sightseeing next time!
Because at the Okura Memorial Hall, you can not only buy their Japanese sake products to take home, but also visit their brewing equipment. These are opportunities to give your travel itinerary a different experience! And you can take some limited souvenirs home!

Okura Memorial Hall
Gekkeikan is a brewery with a long history in Kyoto. In the Gekkeikan Okura Memorial Hall, you can experience the culture and process of making sake in Kyoto-Fushimi before.
And this memorial hall is transformed from the wine cellar left before. In addition, you can also try drinking the undercurrent water used for wine making, watch the equipment used for wine making, and so on.
You can also make an appointment to visit the "Wine Fragrance Room", which is the place where wine is actually brewed and fermented, a wine making experience that ordinary people don't have many opportunities to see.
Japanese sake tasting experience
After visiting the winery, you can try 3 different wines
- "Letorobotol Ginjo Sake"
- "Tama no Izumi Daiginjo"
